2023年2月，据报导梦工厂动画的《新·驯龙高手》三部曲的真人版改编电影正在开发中，由迪恩·戴布洛伊执导、编剧和制作[6]。同月，约翰·包威尔透露他将回归为真人版电影进行配乐[7]。2023年5月，梅森·泰晤士（Mason Thames）和尼科·帕克参演，分别饰演小嗝嗝（Hiccup）以及阿丝翠德（Astrid）[8]。2024年1月，曾经为动画电影配音伟大的斯多戈（Stoick the Vast）的杰拉德·巴特勒将回归在真人版饰演相同角色[9]。同月，尼克·佛洛斯特参演戈伯（Gobber the Belch）[10]。
